American Sniping

"I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand."

Harper Lee
from To Kill a Mockingbird

FURTHER DISPATCHES FROM THE CULTURE WAR:

"Savage, despicable evil. That's what we were fighting in Iraq. That's why a lot of people, myself included, called the enemy 'savages.' There really was no other way to describe what we encountered there."

Chris Kyle

"Savage, despicable evil". It really is an interesting choice of words - and very possibly quite appropriate. But we need to take into consideration how the people of Iraq must have felt toward George W. Bush and Dick Cheney's illegal, unjustified invasion of their sovereign nation. One cannot help but wonder how humanely Chris Kyle would have reacted had Saddam Hussein invaded his hometown of Odessa, Texas. "Savage, despicable evil" indeed. Everything is relative. Then again, that was a quote from his autobiography, which was ghost-written. Who knows what the silly bastard was really thinking.

I have not seen the new movie, about the life and "career" of Chris Kyle,  nor do I plan to. Were I to stumble upon a copy of it on DVD, I might give it a whirl - if only out of morbid curiosity you understand. Other than that I have no desire to view it. My purpose here is not to comment on the film's merit - or lack thereof - as so many people who haven't seen it - (left and right) - seem to be doing these days. Besides, film criticism isn't really my schtick. I speak merely as a battle-hardened correspondent in America's never-ending culture war.

Clint debates a chair
The other day there was a posting on a friend's Facebook page that made its way on to my home feed. Someone had posted a glowing endorsement of Clint Eastwood's latest directorial effort, American Sniper, based on the memoirs quoted above. The only comment I could make was my opinion that Chris Kyle was the best advertizement I could think of for more regulation of the firearms industry. He handed a loaded gun to a person he knew damned well to be mentally ill. That carelessness cost him and another man their lives. Genius.

When someone in the thread pointed out to me that the Second Amendment guaranteed "The right of the people to keep and bear arms", I responded by quoting that section in its full and proper context:

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

I wondered aloud, "What happened to that 'well regulated militia' bit?" As gently and as tactfully as I could, I pointed out that the part they love to quote so much is always quoted out of context. It is, in fact, only half of a much larger sentence.

This was probably a mistake on my part. You wouldn't believe the shit-storm of invective that I was subjected to....or perhaps you would. Their wrath didn't really bother me all that much. "If you can't stand the heat...." as Harry Truman once advised. In fact their complete freak-out was really kind of funny.

Apparently most (if not all) of the guys who commented are veterans of Operation Iraqi "Freedom". One of them said that I should show a lot more respect to the "men" (he neglected to mention the women) who fought over there for my "freedom". Another one even had the chutzpah to say that I was an idiot and an ingrate, and that I owe my right to free speech to the vets of Iraq. I responded that my First Amendment rights were fully in place when the United States Constitution was ratified two-hundred and twenty-six years ago. That's when the proverbial substance hit the old fan. I should have known better. The entire discussion went completely downhill from there.

"HEY, TROOPS!"
It's time to take a deep breath, folks. I have no disrespect for anyone who believes that it is his or her vocation to don the uniform of the United States military. That's fine and dandy. But to imply that they were over there fighting so that I (or any of us) shall remain "free" is an absurdity too profound to contemplate. In March of 2003, George Walker Bush and Richard Bruce Cheney saw an opportunity to seize one of the largest oil reserves on the planet. They also sought to turn an armed conflict into a capitalistic orgy. Cheney's company, Halliburton, made billions in Iraq providing American servicemen and women with facilities and equipment, a lot of which proved to be of such piss-poor quality that it cost the lives of a few of the people who were unfortunate enough to utilize them - such as when some of these poor kids were electrocuted while performing the mere ritual of taking a shower in stalls provided by Cheney and his buddies. Nice.

That's what the war in Iraq was all about: a golden opportunity for a few obscenely wealthy bastards and bitches to become obscenely wealthier. "Freedom"??? Please. That's complete and utter nonsense. Don't insult my intelligence.

"Bring 'em on!"

-George W. Bush, Summer 2003

Cooper as Kyle
That it was the worst military blunder in American history only a fool would deny with hindsight. When Iraq exploded in sectarian violence in the summer of 2003, it was only a matter of time before the United States turned tail and got the hell out of there while the getting was good. The only problem was simply that the "getting" would never get very good at all; and it took a nearly a decade for our leaders to realize this nasty little fact.  Unfortunately by that time the death toll had risen so high that they have yet to accurately assess the total number of lives lost on the Iraqi side. It might be a million souls lost. It might be more. Most of the dead were not of the "savage, despicable evil" variety of Chris Kyle's memories, but innocent men, women and little children. Ain't that a scream?

And now there is an attempt being made by some of our friends on the loony right to turn Chris Kyle into a secular saint. That's the biggest joke of all - and quite a bit disturbing at the same time. Any criticism of American Sniper is seen by these nitwits as borderline blasphemy, can you believe that?

Tell you what: Would you like to see a film about a true, honest-to-goodness American hero? Go see "Selma". It's about a guy named Martin Luther King. Incidentally, he was shot and killed on April 4, 1968 - by an American sniper named James Earl Ray. Not only that, Dr. King really did die for our freedoms - unlike Chris Kyle - who died simply because he was foolish enough to give a dangerous weapon to a guy on a shooting range who was as crazy as a bedbug. Real life is just drenched with juicy little ironies like that one, you know?

I'm afraid that my observations on my old pal's Facebook feed cost me a friendship that went back over four decades. My comments were deleted and I was immediately "unfriended". That's okay. What good are forty-year-old friendships if they can't be shattered into a million pieces overnight by something as seemingly trivial to human relationships as politics? I'll be fine, I promise. He'll be fine, too, I'm sure.

Every time I meet a person who served in Iraq, my inclination is not to thank them for their service to our country, but, rather, to apologize to them. "Sorry for the fuck up", I'm tempted to say, "I didn't vote for Dubya, Honest I didn't."

Respect? Sure. But I pity them much more than I respect them - much, much more

Pray for peace.

Hijacking Catastrophe
a film by Robert Greenwald

I left a link to watch this film a little less than three weeks ago, but I need to do it again. This excellent documentary details, with depressing accuracy, the incompetence and corruption behind the Bush Mob's illegal invasion of Iraq in 2003 and the financial killing that Cheney and other GOP-connected "entrepreneurs" made off of it. This is the most important documentary to emerge from the Bush years, and so few people have seen it. See it now.  You can pick it up for under ten bucks at amazon.com. I cannot recommend it enough. Watch it.

A BLAST FROM THE PAST:

Here's a really funny posting I saw on Facebook back in November. At the time I shared it on this site. Forgive me, but I need to share it with you again. It really is a riot of mirth!

Yeah, Dubya 'cared about' the troops alright. The half-witted little psychopath "cared about" them so much that he sent them off to fight an illegal, un-winnable war in which over five thousand of them sacrificed their lives. Now he lives in cushy retirement while the vets that he "cared about" so much are committing suicide at record numbers. Yeah, George W. Bush "cared about" the troops.  Ain't that a fucking hoot?

Excellent piece, my friend. The truth is mightier than the sniper.

By the way, neither will I watch this film -- or any film glorifying the so-called "war on terrorism". Unfortunately, those men and women who have participated believing they've done anything in the name of "freedom" have been cleverly deceived and manipulated as tools of the corporate-state.

The "head-shot" reached its target; the bulls-eye the egotistical glorification that a young generation yearns to connect to a day when fighting for your country meant just that. Instead, they lose their lives, their limbs, their sanity -- and us our national treasure -- so that billionaires can become wealthier.

If you are able to look at the Iraq War/Invasion from a distance you will is it is no different than Germany invading Poland or France.
It was and is a spectacle of torture and debauchery, if you read what when on in the Bagram prison housing 4500 men, women and children you would have to agree.

To glorify this sniper is the same as glorifying a German sniper who killed Polish or French citizens.

I read many first hand accounts of sniper killings throughout Iraq when it was happening and they rarely differentiated civilians from military targets.

Since we were wrong to even be in Iraq all of of the people killed by this sniper were innocent people.

Yes, Clint Eastwood can make good action movies. Nothing very though-provoking.

Politicians who start wars are criminals, especially if the war is based on lies about WMDs, Saddam having ties to al-Qaeda, and a "nukular" weapons program.

War is savagery. Bush was the prime instigator of the savagery. Period.

Kyle was oblivious to his own savagery, killing people defending their country from invaders.

Sure, he might have saved some American lives, but that didn't stop the needless deaths of 4,000 in Bush's war for crony profit and political gain.

Nobody saved those 4,000 lives. Many liberals tried, but were called traitors siding with terrorists.

Those crowing most about "supporting the troops" sent them to their deaths. Maybe it's time for some vets to thank us for trying to save the lives of their dead comrades.

Such is the moral sickness of a military corporate empire.

So how do those "liberated Iraqis" feel about the movie?

‘American Sniper’ misfires in Iraq

After just a handful of sometimes rowdy screenings, the film has been pulled from Baghdad’s only movie theater amid complaints from the Iraqi government — as well as viewers — that it “insults” Iraqis.

…“It glorifies Americans and makes Iraqis out to be nothing but terrorists.”…

The movie also omitted to note that some Iraqis worked with the Americans, said Sarmad Moazzem, 32, who was one of them. He served alongside U.S. troops for five years in an Interior Ministry logistics division and now works as a security adviser at the theater that pulled the film.
“The film makes out that all Iraqis are terrorists — men, women and children,” he said, “whereas, actually, there are some people who loved the Americans and wanted them to stay to help rebuild our country. The movie didn’t show any of them.”
He listed numerous inaccuracies, such as the identification of Sadr City, the Baghdad neighborhood where Shiite militias battled U.S. troops on numerous occasions, as a stronghold of al-Qaeda — which is a Sunni group….

What scares me, is that we have come a long way from the way Vietnam Vets were treated.

We no longer call them "baby killers" which is commendable, but NOW we are swinging the pendulum frighteningly close to WORSHIP.

We SHOULD respect and honor our brave men and women in uniform. But when we make them infallible and SACRED, we run into dagerous ground.

Not ALL soldiers are "heroes". Some (my guess is a very small minority) are just bad people, obsessed with violence, who have found an outlet for their fetish.

I have not see this film, so I will not speak to what it does or does not portray, but I have been told it tries to connect 9-11 with Iraq, which is just plain wrong, and if Clint Eastwood is throwing HIS politics into it, he can speak to MY "empty chair" in the theater, because I want no part of the glorification of war.

American Sniper' is top U.S. box office hit for third week.
(Reuters) - Box office juggernaut "American Sniper" held the top spot at U.S. and Canadian box offices over the weekend with $31.9 million in ticket sales, according to studio estimates.

The Oscar-nominated war film directed by Clint Eastwood and starring best actor nominee Bradley Cooper as a Navy Seal sharpshooter easily triumphed over several new releases as it closed in on a domestic total of $250 million since opening on Jan. 16.

What is the significant of this fact?

What is the solution to it's popularity?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_Liberation_Act

The Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 is a United States Congressional statement of policy calling for regime change in Iraq.[1][2] It was signed into law by President Bill Clinton, and states that it is the policy of the United States to support democratic movements within Iraq. The Act was cited in October 2002 to argue for the authorization of military force against the Iraqi government.

President Clinton stated in February 1998:
Iraq admitted, among other things, an offensive biological warfare capability, notably, 5,000 gallons of botulinum, which causes botulism; 2,000 gallons of anthrax; 25 biological-filled Scud warheads; and 157 aerial bombs. And I might say UNSCOM inspectors believe that Iraq has actually greatly understated its production....
Over the past few months, as [the weapons inspectors] have come closer and closer to rooting out Iraq's remaining nuclear capacity, Saddam has undertaken yet another gambit to thwart their ambitions by imposing debilitating conditions on the inspectors and declaring key sites which have still not been inspected off limits....
It is obvious that there is an attempt here, based on the whole history of this operation since 1991, to protect whatever remains of his capacity to produce weapons of mass destruction, the missiles to deliver them, and the feed stocks necessary to produce them. The UNSCOM inspectors believe that Iraq still has stockpiles of chemical and biological munitions, a small force of Scud-type missiles, and the capacity to restart quickly its production program and build many, many more weapons....
Now, let's imagine the future. What if he fails to comply and we fail to act, or we take some ambiguous third route, which gives him yet more opportunities to develop this program of weapons of mass destruction and continue to press for the release of the sanctions and continue to ignore the solemn commitments that he made? Well, he will conclude that the international community has lost its will. He will then conclude that he can go right on and do more to rebuild an arsenal of devastating destruction. And some day, some way, I guarantee you he'll use the arsenal....
President Clinton ~ 1998[6]

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members...

It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well, effects American security.

This is a very difficult vote, this is probably the hardest decision I've ever had to make. Any vote that might lead to war should be hard, but I cast it with conviction."

" William Scott Ritter, Jr. was a United Nations weapons inspector in Iraq from 1991 to 1998, and later a critic of United States foreign policy in the Middle East. Prior to the invasion of Iraq in March 2003, Ritter stated that Iraq possessed no significant weapons of mass destruction capabilities. He became a popular anti-war figure and talk show commentator as a result of his stance."

And most Americans reject the Right/Koch agenda. They did so during the last Republican lock on government and continue to do so.

"That's what the war in Iraq was all about: a golden opportunity for a few obscenely wealthy bastards and bitches to become obscenely wealthier."

Well Tom, That's what just about every war in history has been about. The only surprise is that in this day of widespread education and instant communication, it keeps working. But then again, if you think about it, it's not really a surprise.

"Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don't want war neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." Hermann Goering

So why does the average human fall for this crap? Year after year, century after century? Can the average human REALLY be that stupid?

Not stupid, actually, just a victim of genetics. It appears the a very few of us, maybe five percent of the population, have been given the incredible gift of being able to see the world as it actually is, not through the filter of preconceived notions, or “Rose Colored Glasses”. They have the ability to learn from experience, and not repeat the same mistakes time after time. They have the ability to make a logical decision based on what they observe, not fairy tales they have heard. On what what someone else does, not what they say.

War has always been a con job. Convincing the gullible to give up their time, health, and even lives so the wealthy few can prosper. From before the days of Roman “Bread and Circuses” to the present day nothing has really changed.

Arguably one of the best examples of this was the Civil War right here in America. Can you imagine, the one percent of the day, the plantation owners, convincing the poor white sharecroppers living in a dirt floor shack to fight and die for greater glory of the south? The “right” to own a slave? Yeah, that's a hoot, own a slave. Most of these sharecroppers couldn't rub two nickels together, much less buy a slave. But yet they went proudly marching off to war, blinders firmly on and eyes wide shut. And they died by the thousands. Can anyone say “Darwin Award”?

So now you claim you lost a friend? Not surprising. In addition to being gullible to the point of being dumb as a box of rocks, these people also share an inability to look at themselves in the mirror and think “boy, was I taken for a ride”. They are totally unable to admit they have been conned, fleeced, bamboozled, suckered, and pwned. Not to mentioned used then thrown away like the disposable broken tool the one percent consider them to be. In other words, they lack the ability to learn from their mistakes. How many of them say say would do it again?

“But I pity them more - much, much more.” I used to, but not any more. They are what they are, what nature made them. I can't change them, you can't change them, I don't believe any amount of education will change them. I gave up that idea a long time ago. As a young man, I liked to believe that “Someday they will hold a war, and no one will come” Fat chance!

And if you investigate you will find young Americans do not think SS will be there for them. Most Americans do not trust govt programs to work efficiently as hopped for and to stay within budget.

Example, Ted Kennedy said about Medicare that it would never need fixing or run out of money.
That has not been the case.

Regardless, what you have done is support my view that classic liberalism has been destroyed by the Progressive movement that started in part when the SCUSA redefined the general welfare clause in the Constitution in the 1930's.

Finally, your attempting to paint me with some kind of Right/Koch agenda is the most stupid, partisan one party thing you have written. Simple stated, in the free market place of idea Radical Progressives can not tolerate any view, any idea that is not lock step with their agenda.

Exactly. And the GOP/Koch agenda is to remove or privatize these against the wishes of most Americans.

Constitutional taxation for medical care goes way back before 1930.

in July of 1798, Congress passed, and President John Adams signed into law an act "For the Relief of Sick and Disabled Seamen," establishing the Marine Hospital Service.

This Federal government socialized healthcare insurance was funded by a tax that was withheld from the sailor’s pay, and then turned over to the government by the ship’s owner.

Wrong again, sport.

This is a propaganda point that the Right employs to de-fund the programs so they don't operate as efficiently as they could.

Your propagandist calls it "reducing government to where it can be drowned in a bathtub."

Note almost every time Sore Asshole invokes "most Americans" it is either a lie or unsupported opinion.

Once again, this is what "classic liberalism" looks like:

To be clear, this is the agenda the Kochs billion dollars for the next election is pushing:

Here are just a few excerpts of the Libertarian Party platform that David Koch ran on in 1980:

• “We urge the repeal of federal campaign finance laws, and the immediate abolition of the despotic Federal Election Commission.”
• “We favor the abolition of Medicare and Medicaid programs.”
• “We oppose any compulsory insurance or tax-supported plan to provide health services, including those which finance abortion services.”
• “We also favor the deregulation of the medical insurance industry.”
• “We favor the repeal of the fraudulent, virtually bankrupt, and increasingly oppressive Social Security system. Pending that repeal, participation in Social Security should be made voluntary.”
• “We propose the abolition of the governmental Postal Service. The present system, in addition to being inefficient, encourages governmental surveillance of private correspondence. Pending abolition, we call for an end to the monopoly system and for allowing free competition in all aspects of postal service.”
• “We oppose all personal and corporate income taxation, including capital gains taxes.”
• “We support the eventual repeal of all taxation.”
• “As an interim measure, all criminal and civil sanctions against tax evasion should be terminated immediately.”
• “We support repeal of all law which impede the ability of any person to find employment, such as minimum wage laws.”
• “We advocate the complete separation of education and State. Government schools lead to the indoctrination of children and interfere with the free choice of individuals. Government ownership, operation, regulation, and subsidy of schools and colleges should be ended.”
• “We condemn compulsory education laws … and we call for the immediate repeal of such laws.”
• “We support the repeal of all taxes on the income or property of private schools, whether profit or non-profit.”
• “We support the abolition of the Environmental Protection Agency.”
• “We support abolition of the Department of Energy.”
• “We call for the dissolution of all government agencies concerned with transportation, including the Department of Transportation.”
• “We demand the return of America's railroad system to private ownership. We call for the privatization of the public roads and national highway system.”
• “We specifically oppose laws requiring an individual to buy or use so-called "self-protection" equipment such as safety belts, air bags, or crash helmets.”
• “We advocate the abolition of the Federal Aviation Administration.”
• “We advocate the abolition of the Food and Drug Administration.”
• “We support an end to all subsidies for child-bearing built into our present laws, including all welfare plans and the provision of tax-supported services for children.”
• “We oppose all government welfare, relief projects, and ‘aid to the poor’ programs. All these government programs are privacy-invading, paternalistic, demeaning, and inefficient. The proper source of help for such persons is the voluntary efforts of private groups and individuals.”
• “We call for the privatization of the inland waterways, and of the distribution system that brings water to industry, agriculture and households.”
• “We call for the repeal of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.”
• “We call for the abolition of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.”
• “We support the repeal of all state usury laws.”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronald_Reagan_Speaks_Out_Against_Socialized_Medicine

He uses the same rhetoric that I still hear today against the Affordable Care Act. He even used a phony quote by the scary socialist Norman Thomas.

The weird thing is, nowadays fox news viewers over 65 love their medicare and social security.

I have no issue with his reasons, after all they are his and as a Classic Liberal, I believe in diversity of opinions. I just do not believe his view is the view of the majority of Americans.

An investigation revealed that best-selling supplements not only didn’t work, but were potentially dangerous, with four out of five of the products not even listing any herbs in their ingredients–instead, the supplements contained fillers including powdered rice, houseplants and asparagus. Fraudulent products include echinacea, ginseng, St. John’s wort, garlic, ginkgo biloba and saw palmetto.

In total, only 21 percent of store brand herbal supplements contained plants listed on the labels.

“Mislabeling, contamination and false advertising are illegal,” said Schneiderman. “They also pose unacceptable risks to New York families — especially those with allergies to hidden ingredients.”

These drugs are not subject to the F.D.A.’s approval because of a loophole in a 1994 federal law (spearheaded by Utah Sen. Orrin G. Hatch who received funding from supplement makers), fraudulent products can easily reach consumers without accountability or oversight."

What I wonder is how the GOP candidates for president would address this problem. We know their motto is "The battle for liberty from the heavy hand of government never ends." ...But does that mean dietary supplements, pharmaceuticals, meat, our drinking water, etc., should not be inspected by government agencies? Are these manufacturers supposed to police themselves?

Of course. We can't have government with more power than corporations, can we?

Besides corporations are, by virtue of wealth, superior persons with superior rights of "free speech".

Therefore they are not only more responsible "persons" and citizens, but morally superior to mere humans.

Look at the Koch agenda for their true intentions.

"Classic liberalism" is the usurpation of power by the economic elites and the root of fascism, war and austerity.

Forge this "classic liberalism" monster with war mongering neo-liberal neo-cons and we have the recipe for the destruction of the economy, representative democracy, and our freedom.

Again in an attempt to keep the focus on the topic Tom presented us instead of waging war on views of those who disagree with the Radical Progressive agenda, I offer the following to support my stance that Tom's views are NOT the position of the majority of Americans.

From the Politico:

" MSNBC registered its lowest full-day rating in nearly a decade on Tuesday, a devastatingly low benchmark that shows just how severe the network’s decline has become.

The liberal cable news network drew an average of 55,000 viewers in the all-important 25-to-54 year-old demo on Tuesday, its lowest full-day rating since July 2005, according to Nielsen ratings provided by an industry source. CNN had nearly three times as many viewers in the demo; Fox News NEARLY FIVE times as many.

That low reflects a more general decline in recent years. In January, MSNBC’s daytime ratings for January were down 20 percent in total and 37 percent in the demo when compared to the previous year. In primetime, total viewership was down 23 percent, while the demo dropped by 39 percent."

I have yet been able to uncover a report where MSNBC disagreed with the positions of the DNC, President Obama and the Radical Progressives. For those who would claim the Politico is a rightwing slanted news source, that does not exempt MSNBC from the facts of their losing views. The numbers speak for themselves, regardless of who reports it.

MSNBC along with other news networks has yet to report on the announcement by the CPUSA plan to work with the DNC to defeat their opposition in the upcoming elections.
If the majority of Americans agreed with the news as reported by MSNBC, would their ratings be in the tank? I say no.

While I applaud Tom for having the intestinal fortitude to continue voice what is clearly now the MINORITY view, I believe it is just as important to show just how far out of step his views really are with the majority of Americans.
If the Radical Progressive controlled DNC was willing to compromise with the view of the Majority of Americans their downward trend might be halted. If this continues they face extinction.

JJ,

you forgot a few things,

You are NOT forced to buy a car
It is the law if the State you live in that requires you to buy car insurance, not the Federal govt.
The govt doesn't subsidize your car insurance payment with money taxed from someone else.
You are not forced to buy car insurance even if you don't need/own a car.

At 12:46 PM, Blogger Dave Dubya said...

Sore Asshole has never grasped facts, logic and reason before. Why start now?

If the majority of Americans agreed with the news as reported by MSNBC...

Unlike FOX(R), MSNBC doesn't pretend to be anything other than opinion.

Also unlike FOX(R), there is no "News" after MSNBC.

And where would FOX(R) ratings be if it were not foisted on the public as part of basic cable? What if people had to pay extra for it like MSNBC?

All this is outside the thinking of our Republican troll.

Note he flees from admitting he shares the Koch agenda.

They are the true radicals.

At 1:06 PM, Blogger Dave Dubya said...

And speaking of FOX(R), Media Matters reports:

Fox News not only tossed aside its own clearly stated position about airing violent propaganda videos distributed by terrorists, it also became, according to The Guardian, the only American news organization this week to toil in the realm of marketing an execution.

Fox not only aired graphic images of a controversial Islamic State (ISIS) clip on its signature nightly news show, it embedded the gruesome, unedited video on its website, and provided lurid, play-by-play description of Jordanian pilot Muath al-Kasaesbeh dying at the hands of his captures. (Shepard Smith: "Eventually the pilot collapses to his knees.")

This is just stunning. An American news organization hosting on its website an explicit terrorist video that captures the staged execution of an innocent hostage.

FOX helped ISIS spread their terror. Just what ISIS wanted them to do.

At 6:56 PM, Anonymous Sore Loser said...

Well Dumbya, if that is the best you can be, so be it. But I think you are really rationalizing.
The fact that CNN beats MSNBC must mean something, but I guess since you can't blame the Koch's for that, why bring it up.

Or we could always do like the Jews in Nazi Germany did and hope they play nice they will be left alone, IE if we didn't report ISIS and their burning of people alive and beheading people and throwing gays to their death from towers and maybe they will play nice with us.

Hell, we have a President who will not call ISIS what they are yet ISIS still is beheaded Americans. Chamberlain much?

More importantly there is nothing you said that would indicate the majority of American agree with your argument that Fox News is to blame for the terror that ISIS is spreading.
There is great evil in this world that you seem to fear less than your fear of those who disagree with your politics or those who report the evil of ISIS.

Using your claim that by Fox news by reporting ISIS, they spread ISIS, would mean Edward R Murrow spread Nazism by reporting about them. Yet it does seem odd that ISIS is broadcasting over the internet without the help of Fox News their evil in order to spread their terror and with that terror their control.

Are MSNBC and CNN foisted on the American public as a part of basic cable? When I go to airports, the only news carried that I've seen has been CNN. I dont pay for any of the cable networks, suck if you have to.
You claim that MSNBC is NOT a news network? Better tell the folks at NBC Universal
then.
"MSNBC is an American basic cable and satellite channel that provides NEWS coverage and political opinion on current events. It is owned by the NBCUniversal News Group, a unit of the NBCUniversal Television Group division of NBCUniversal."

Using your claim that Fox News by reporting ISIS, they aided terrorism, would that mean Edward R Murrow aided Nazism by reporting about them.

Can we try Mr. Rather, Mr Williams and H. Clinton as they lied about their experiences in the war on Terror? Did their lies help the spread of ISIS?
Can we try Mr. Obama's last two Secy of States?
Can we subpena Mr. Hagel and Mr. Panetta for their experience as Secy of Defense and Director of the CIA under Obama?

But none of this changes the fact that the GOP now controls both Houses of Congress, the majority of State Governorships, the majority of State's Legislation, that MSNBC NEWS now ranks third behind first FOX and then CNN, that American Sniper is a blockbuster movie that millions of Americans have seen, that the First Lady, Michelle Obama praised 'American Sniper' at a Veterans Event, that the CPUSA has announced they were going to work with the DNC against the GOP and that your Progressive views are too Radical for the vast majority of Americans, and that all of these events support that fact.

So blame FOX News, blame the Kochs, the Tea Party, the BIG corporations, the SCUSA, the stupidity of the voters who dare vote against your politics, the lack of Net Neutrality, but I would think by now a reality check would be in order if I were you.

Or are you saying if FOX news didn't report on the ISIS acts of terror, we wouldn't know about it, and therefore be safe, dumb, fat and happy? I'm trying to figure how telling us about ISIS terror has caused the spread of terrorist acts by ISIS.

Thought For THE Day,
If FOX News is so irrelevant and not important as a source of news, then why would their showing the Nazi like behavior of ISIS terrorism, cause a problem? After all it's just cable news and the broadcast news programs have many more viewers than FOX? Did ABC, NBC and CBS show the vile animal behavior of the followers of a 7th century war lord. or was it just FOX?

Kind of neat to see Dumbya stumble over his claim that MSNBC is not a news organization. I would add that with the B. Say one thing for Mr. Williams his lie puts him in good company with former Secy of State Clinton and her lie about coming under fire.

The Killian documents controversy (also referred to as Memogate, Rathergate or Rathergate[1]) involved six purported documents critical of U.S. President George W. Four of these documents[2] were presented as authentic in a 60 Minutes Wednesday broadcast aired by CBS on September 8, 2004, less than two months before the 2004 Presidential Election, but it was later found that CBS had failed to authenticate the documents.[3][4][5] Subsequently, several typewriter and typography experts concluded the documents were blatant forgeries,[6][7] as have most media sources. No forensic document examiners or typography experts have authenticated the documents, and this may not be technically possible without original documents.[8] The purveyor of the documents, Lt. Col. Bill Burkett, claims to have burned the originals after faxing copies to CBS.[9]

Dan Rather: Truckload of Mossad Bombs Found on George Washington Bridge on 9/11
In the evening of 9/11, Dan Rather reported on, GASP CBS news, not FOX. A report that turned out to be totally false and unsubstantiated yet to this day. There you go again FOX News doing the work of terror for them.

During an introduction to a foreign policy speech on Iraq on March 17, 2008, Sen. Hillary Clinton reminisced about her days as first lady and a trip to Tuzla, Bosnia, she made in March 1996.

"I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."

But that's not what happened, as demonstrated by CBS News video that shows Clinton arriving on the tarmac under no visible duress, and greeting a child who offers her a copy of a poem.

For years, Brian Williams had been telling a story that wasn’t true(GASP< does that mean it was a "lie"?). On Wednesday night, he took to his anchor chair on “NBC Nightly News” to apologize for misleading the public.

Leftists like Obama take it as a matter of faith that most of the wars and suffering in the world come from religious people (especially Christians). Talk to any undergrad who just had their first political science class with a 60s radical professor. It doesn't occur to them that Hitler, Stalin, the Kims, and Pol Pot are products of the very socialist thought that informs their own opinions. Christianity on the other hand radically reformed the value system of Europe and eventually, transforming the warrior and citizen morality with concepts such as equality before God and eventually the law, forgiveness, mercy, and love of those outside your tribe. Without these concepts how could the Enlightenment and the development of the liberal democratic system even happen?

And imagine the joy of the slaves who at least got to be "equal before God" while their Christian masters were making their lives a livoing Hell.

The House Select Committee on Benghazi announced that both DEMOCRATS and Republicans want to schedule the appearance of Hillary Clinton “as soon as possible.”

But first, says Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., the State Department must provide documents originally subpoenaed in 2013 so the materials can be reviewed in order to “constructively ask questions of Secretary Clinton.”

Among the materials sought: documents related to the State Department’s Accountability Review Board investigation and other relevant emails and documents in the possession of the State Department.

For the first time, the committee has also disclosed a partial list of executive branch, military, intelligence and State Department witnesses it intends to interview beginning as early as April 1. It includes Clinton’s top aides Cheryl Mills and Jake Sullivan."

Elections results have consequences.

Mr. President, Medieval Christian Threat Is Under Control, Take Care Of Radical Islamic Threat, Today!

San Francisco’s Borderlands Books will be forced to close as the city increases its minimum wage, and its owner Alan Beatts is tired of being criticized for talking about it.

“Most critics say ‘how dare you blame the minimum wage increase for you closing,’” he told the Washington Free Beacon. “It’s bullshit.”

“They’re either calling me a liar of chastising me for telling the truth.”

Borderlands is a specialty bookstore that has been able to carve out a niche in San Francisco for the past 18 years. It has been able to support a staff of five, most of whom have been working together for more than a decade.

Beatts said he made a mere $28,000 in gross salary last year.

With the added labor costs the city’s new minimum wage will eventually impose on the business, and the fact that books come pre-priced leaving no room for price increases, Mr. Beatts sees no way it can survive.

More unemployed for the Obama soup line.

But in the Radical Progressive's mind, the problem is Fox News.

Obama is not a Christian. He is not Muslim. He is a sophist. His recent Empty Suit speech from his teleprompter with a laundry list of the Crusades, the Inquisition, etc. is the same one used (fallaciously) by atheists and other anti-Christian, anti-religion pseudo-intellectuals. The problem is that the argument is clever, thus many fall for it.

His anti-religion arguments are the same caliber as his political arguments. Making everything a free right to the Low Information Voters while conveniently omitting the concomitant costs and responsibilities is the basis of liberalism. Clever arguments but devoid of any intellectual substance. It's how Democrats get elected.

At least Maddow backs up her "opinions" with researchable facts. She gives her sources. She doesn't wait for Rush Limbaugh to pull something out of his ass, and then report it as "fact" saying "It's been said that..." or "Could it BE that...?"

Plus, MSNBC does not give failed politicians a microphone to spew their propaganda until a couple months before the next election.

MSNBC never had to put "Fair and balanced" in their tag to convince people.

And anyone who can't live on $28,000 a year needs to learn how to handle money.

Also, if you can't afford to pay employees a fair wage, you need to get out of whatever business you are in, or do it yourself.

All Obama was saying is that not ALL Muslims are terrorists, and that Christianity has a horrible and violent past. Go figure your heroes at Fox news would twist that into an "attack on religion"

I just don't understand how Iraq had WMDs when Bill Clinton was President but not when George Bush was President.

Can any of my "leaning forward" friends explain that or are we just rewriting history again for the marxist cause?

The left has been writing & teaching its brand of history for years now.

"Whoever controls the past is able to control the future."

That was one of Orwell's warnings in his famous novel, "1984." Winston Smith, the protagonist, had a job at the "Ministry of Truth." His job was to make-up lies. To rewrite history for the government. The state was constantly rewriting history.

King Barry now lies so much, we don't know when he is telling the truth. His latest condemnation of the violence of Christianity that occurred long ago while putting his head in the sand about the cancerous spread of Islamic Fascism in the world is a disgrace.

Islam was on a bloody march 400 years before the first Crusade. The Crusades were a military response to centuries of turning the other cheek.

Get the President a good historical adviser, maybe even someone from Harvard.

Muslims were attacking Christians for four centuries before the First Crusade. The Crusades ended before 1300, but Muslims are still attacking Christians, Jews, Yezidis, and secularists in the 21st century. Obama turns a blind eye to historical perspective.

It is indeed true that violence has been done in the name of Christianity, but it is difficult to find any warrant for it in the words of Christ as recorded in the New Testament. On the other hand, the Koran repeatedly enjoins Muslims to slaughter infidels. Mahomet himself was a successful military leader and carried out numerous killings, including wholesale massacres of Jews. None of the founders of other religions had such a record of violence.

Al-Qaeda, ISIS, the Taliban, and other violent and bloodthirsty sectarian groups may not be typical of all Muslims, but it can't be said that they have nothing to do with Islam. They appeal to the undisputed text of their faith's holy book and to the example of their faith's founder - today, in 2015, just as they did in 732 when Charles Martel turned them back at the battle of Tours. I would like President Obama - JUST ONCE - to acknowledge this.

At least 2,464 people have now been killed by US drone strikes OUTSIDE the country’s declared war zones since President Barack Obama’s inauguration six years ago, the Bureau’s latest monthly report reveals.

Of the total killed since Obama took his oath of office on January 20 2009, at least 314 have been civilians, while the number of confirmed strikes under his administration now stands at 456.

Research by the Bureau also shows there have now been nearly nine times more strikes under Obama in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia than there were under his predecessor, George W Bush.

According to Wikipedia there were 1303 executions during the 300 year Spanish Inquisition. Another study put the execution total at around 2000 deaths.

So now we have proven the Republican troll, like his Party, is dishonest, willfully ignorant, and unwilling to acknowledge or apologize for the falsehoods he spews.

Republican "values" on display. I call evil and dishonesty for what they are. The GOP couldn't exist without those "values".

This is what his one-party dictatorship has to offer our country:

Lies, treachery, economic ruin for the middle class, treason and death.

Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and four thousand Americans died for these documented lies:

LIE #1: "The evidence indicates that Iraq is reconstituting its nuclear weapons program ... Iraq has attempted to purchase high-strength aluminum tubes and other equipment needed for gas centrifuges, which are used to enrich uranium for nuclear weapons." -- President Bush, Oct. 7, 2002, in Cincinnati.

LIE #2: "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa." -- President Bush, Jan.28, 2003, in the State of the Union address.

LIE #3: "We believe [Saddam] has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons." -- Vice President Cheney on March 16, 2003 on "Meet the Press."

LIE #4: "[The CIA possesses] solid reporting of senior-level contacts between Iraq and al-Qaeda going back a decade." -- CIA Director George Tenet in a written statement released Oct. 7, 2002 and echoed in that evening's speech by President Bush.

LIE #5: "We've learned that Iraq has trained al-Qaeda members in bomb-making and poisons and deadly gases ... Alliance with terrorists could allow the Iraqi regime to attack America without leaving any fingerprints."-- President Bush, Oct. 7.

LIE #6: "We have also discovered through intelligence that Iraq has a growing fleet of manned and unmanned aerial vehicles that could be used to disperse chemical or biological weapons across broad areas. We are concerned that Iraq is exploring ways of using these UAVs [unmanned aerial vehicles] for missions targeting the United States."-- President Bush, Oct. 7.

LIE #7: "We have seen intelligence over many months that they have chemical and biological weapons, and that they have dispersed them and that they're weaponized and that, in one case at least, the command and control arrangements have been established." -- President Bush, Feb. 8, 2003, in a national radio address.

LIE #8: "Our conservative estimate is that Iraq today has a stockpile of between 100 and 500 tons of chemical weapons agent. That is enough to fill 16,000 battlefield rockets."-- Secretary of State Colin Powell, Feb. 5 2003, in remarks to the UN Security Council.

LIE #9: "We know where [Iraq's WMD] are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south, and north somewhat." -- Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, March 30, 2003, in statements to the press.

LIE #10: "Yes, we found a biological laboratory in Iraq which the UN prohibited." -- President Bush in remarks in Poland, published internationally June 1, 2003.
===

And they want the power to collapse our economy and wage endless war for crony profit all over again.

Apathetic and low information voters are allowing it. Like the takeover of the House, the Senate was taken with more Americans voting for Democrats.

This is not the "will of the people".

It is manipulation of a rigged system that favors certain states and gerrymandered districts with proportionally greater "representation".

A dictatorship by minority rule.

The Boy troll is all upset about Brian Williams. Hmmm...

I don't condone what Williams ALLEGEDLY did, but as long as Fox News is still allowed to spew outright lies, I don't see how we can get upset over Williams embellishing a story for dramatic effect.

Wasn't it just a short while ago that Glenn beck had his little "rally" in DC and Fox news inserted crowd shots from another event to give the impression there was a bigger crowd than actually attended?

And after the Benghazi tragedy, wasn't Fox news who showed a pic of "the ambassador's body being dragged through the streets by the terrorists " when in fact it was a pic of townspeople carrying him to a truck so they could get him to a hospital?

Why is it that only "liberal" reporters are expected to NEVER deviate from absolute facts?

Maybe that's WHY the Williams incident upsets us so much. Even the right depends on people like him for FACTUAL REPORTING because they KNOW Fox isn't going to provide it.

The pilot of a helicopter on which NBC News anchor Brian Williams flew in Iraq said on Thursday that the aircraft did take some fire in 2003, adding another twist to a story that the newsman was forced to recant and apologize for this week.

Pilot Rich Krell told CNN's Brian Stelter that Williams had some of the facts right, but did make some mistakes in telling the story.

Williams issued multiple apologies on Wednesday night for saying that he was in a helicopter that was hit by a rocket propelled grenade while covering the Iraq War in 2003. He admitted he was in a different helicopter and blamed the errors on "the fog of memory."

But Krell appeared to back up at least some of what Williams has said during repeated tellings of the story over the past decade, even if the anchor did get some things wrong. The most striking thing that Krell said was that the military helicopter Williams was riding in did in fact come under enemy fire, though it was not from an RPG.

"Some of things he's said are not true. But some of the things they're saying against him are not true either," Krell told CNN.

Their helicopter was second in a formation of three aircraft carrying bridge parts, according to Krell. The first helicopter was hit with the RPG attack, which Williams likely did not witness from his seat in the back of the chopper.

All three of the helicopters were hit by small arms fire, however, according to Krell.

"The bridge expansions we were hauling took most of the hits," Krell told CNN.

The helicopter on which Williams was riding then dropped off the bridge parts before catching up to the other two aircraft and landing.

Did Bill Clinton?(I did not have sex")
Did Hillary?( I had to duck gunfire)
Did Obama? (too many to list)
Did Kirsten Gillibrand when she said on January 24, 2013, on MSNBC
"Today, about 40 percent of guns are purchased without a background check."
Did ABC News after shamefully admitting falsehoods in one of its Benghazi stories.
Did Nancy Pelosi, oops yes she did get fired from Speaker of the House due to GOP taking control of the House.

Was Bill Clinton lying when he said in 1998

"Iraq admitted, among other things, an offensive biological warfare capability, notably, 5,000 gallons of botulinum, which causes botulism; 2,000 gallons of anthrax; 25 biological-filled Scud warheads; and 157 aerial bombs. And I might say UNSCOM inspectors believe that Iraq has actually greatly understated its production...."

Or telling the truth?

Or should he blame GWB for lying to him, oh wait, GWB was in office ALLEGEDLY after Clinton's two terms. Allegedly.

And your favorite lie, is about GWB going AWOL.
Rather got fired from CBS BECAUSE the documents were true or because he didn't vet them and they were fake, or because of the following?

"No forensic document examiners or typography experts have authenticated the documents, and this may not be technically possible without original documents. The purveyor of the documents, Lt. Col. Bill Burkett, claims to have burned the originals after faxing copies to CBS."

Amazingly they got burned. Allegedly burned like Former National Security Adviser Sandy Berger who was sentenced to community service and probation and fined $50,000 for illegally removing highly classified documents from the National Archives and intentionally destroying some of them" (CNN) because he allegedly put them in his brief case and forgot about them until he was at home and then when he found them instead of turning them back in he allegedly destroyed them.

I think its great that Scott Walker came out on top of the Des Moines/Bloomberg poll after the Iowa Freedom Summit.

Scott Walker is turning Wisconsin around so that it doesn't sink to the bottom like Michigan, Illinois and other States run by Progressive Governors.

He fought the greedy public-employee unions in Wisconsin where negotiations for contracts never included the people paying the bill, the TAX PAYER.

Walker says the safety net should be not a hammock but a trampoline.

His stands on public-employee unions result from application of common sense. Teacher layoffs should be determined not by seniority, but by merit. Public-employee unions shouldn’t be allowed to insist that school districts buy expensive health from a union-crony–controlled firm.

But now Americans have seen firsthand the failures of socialism. Corporatism, bailouts, central planning have culminated in ObamaCare and Dodd Frank (that is killing Small Business). They have had enough of the Bush dynasty with their Agenda21 and the Obama/Clinton with their Marxism and nationalization of the economy.

Walker and Cruz are as much a backlash against the Bush corporatist and Agenda21 central planners as the collectivism and totalitarianism of Clinton and Obama.

Walker is the New Normal. After a flashy, empty narcissist, normal is just what America wants for a President!

Transcript: President Clinton explains Iraq strike

Good evening.

Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.

Their purpose is to protect the national interest of the United States, and indeed the interests of people throughout the Middle East and around the world.

Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons.

I want to explain why I have decided, with the unanimous recommendation of my national security team, to use force in Iraq; why we have acted now; and what we aim to accomplish.

Six weeks ago, Saddam Hussein announced that he would no longer cooperate with the United Nations weapons inspectors called UNSCOM. They are highly professional experts from dozens of countries. Their job is to oversee the elimination of Iraq's capability to retain, create and use weapons of mass destruction, and to verify that Iraq does not attempt to rebuild that capability.

OF course I tune in occasinally to Fox.I'm a Liberal, I check as many sources as I can find for information, unlike conservatives, who ONLY rely on ultra conservative sources that tell them exactly what to think, and who to fear, and then reenforce THAT instead of reporting accurately.

I noticed you completely ignored the POINT, which was that Fox lies as a result of POLICY and you support them.

But let someone else embellish a true story (which I do not condone, news reporters should stick to facts) and suddenly you cons are OUTRAGED!

WHY DOES WILLIAMS HAVE TO GIVE UP HIS JOB FOR THE SAME REASONS FOX HOSTS ARE AWARDED JOBS?

Clinton was impeached for lying to congress.

Hillary was under fire, though it wasn't as bad as she said it was.

Name an ACTUAL Obama "lie". Leave out the false ones Fox news promotes.

ONE "Falsehood" in ONE story and ABC has to eat it. Fox lies ALL THE TIME and you support them.

And Williams apologized for his mistake. WHEN HAS A FOX NEWS ANCHOR APOLOGIZED FOR ANYTHING?

And "Wiliie from Wisconsin", Scot walker is a BATSHIT TEABAGGER who is "bringing Wisconsin back" by screwing the poor and middle class, while handing control of the state over to the Kochs. Go ahead, vote for a guy who got 15% support from YOUR PARTY two years before an election. There are about 30 candidates for GOP nomination at this point. Fine, Walker is CURRENTLY top of the shitpile, but he's still PART of the pile.

"Americans have seen firsthand the failures of socialism. Corporatism, bailouts, central planning..."

You DO realize that all these things are CONSERVATIVE policies right?

And Dodd-Frank was rendered gutless before it was even made into law. Then it's been mostly defunded by the GOP House, so who's kiklling small business? The law was designed to reign in bad banking practices. the GOP wants to go back to the same policies that crashed the economy (for all but the uber rich, they did fine)

As for the Crusades, it's been common knowledge that they were staterd by the Catholic Church for centuries. But NOW that "Mooslums" have been made Public enemy #1 by the right, they HAVE to be blamed for the Crusades so the Christian right can be labeled "heroes".

Scott Walker will do great in red state primaries, but will be obliterated in a natinal election unless the GOP can find a way to steal it for him (see 2000 and 2004 selections)

Let me be clear, the vote I will give to the President is for one reason and one reason only: To disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, if we cannot accomplish that objective through new, tough weapons inspections in joint concert with our allies.

In giving the President this authority, I expect him to fulfill the commitments he has made to the American people in recent days — to work with the United Nations Security Council to adopt a new resolution setting out tough and immediate inspection requirements, and to act with our allies at our side if we have to disarm Saddam Hussein by force. If he fails to do so, I will be among the first to speak out.

If we do wind up going to war with Iraq, it is imperative that we do so with others in the international community, unless there is a showing of a grave, imminent — and I emphasize "imminent" — threat to this country which requires the President to respond in a way that protects our immediate national security needs.

I'm a crappy typist, I admit it. I'm also posting here while doing other things, so sometimes I don't proofread well before posting. (An edit function would help, Tom ;) )

So because of THAT, and given he doesn't have anything constructive or relevent to add,the boy troll OBSESSES on typos (while completely butchering actual terms like "ad hominem"

He's been proven wrong countless times since I have participated in this forum, and whenever that happens he ignores it and moves on, or simply continues as if he never saw the correct explainatin (The recent "election" results are a prime example.)

He's also posted under several different names.

Seldom has he ever commented on the actual subject of the blog he's commenting on.

We should either agree to ignore him or maybe Tom should ban his IP address.

Censorship? No, he's had ample time and space to make his opinions known. But his constant WHINING about Democrats,(especially Obama) even when the FACT is that the country is doing better NOW than under GOP rule is getting old.

Worst of all, it's pathetic. The boy clearly needs help.

One simple question about Clinton that I've asked 3 times and none of the "BEST" the Progressive have to offer has attempted to address it.
"Was Clinton lying when he said:

"Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's NUCLEAR, CHEMICAL and BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors."

Gutless is the word that comes to mind when I think of the three of you, spewing lies like Dumbya and his faithful mental midget Morfat have repeatedly.

It's what Radical Progressives are learning to do from their allies the Communist Party USA, lie, close down their opposition, play the class game, play the race card, destroy civilization. You say you just want to rich to pay their fair share, that's a lie! If you were honest, you would be all over the Rev Al to pay his $4 million of taxes owned. But you see, Radical Progressives are afraid to offend their puppet, the Rev Al.

You can keep me from posting, but nothing you do can change the FACT that the GOP now controls both Houses of Congress, the majority of State Governors are Republicans as are the Majority of State legislation's.

The Dangerous Lie That ‘Bush Lied’

By LAURENCE H. SILBERMAN
Feb. 8, 2015 6:25 p.m. ET

"Some journalists still peddle this canard as if it were fact. This is defamatory and could end up hurting the country.

In recent weeks, I have heard former Associated Press reporter Ron Fournier on Fox News twice asserting, quite offhandedly, that President George W. Bush “lied us into war in Iraq.”

I found this shocking. I took a leave of absence from the bench in 2004-05 to serve as co-chairman of the Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction—a bipartisan body, sometimes referred to as the Robb-Silberman Commission. It was directed in 2004 to evaluate the intelligence community’s determination that Saddam Hussein possessed WMD—I am, therefore, keenly aware of both the intelligence provided to President Bush and his reliance on that intelligence as his primary casus belli. It is astonishing to see the “Bush lied” allegation evolve from antiwar slogan to journalistic fact.

The intelligence community’s 2002 National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) stated, in a formal presentation to President Bush and to Congress, its view that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction—a belief in which the NIE said it held a 90% level of confidence. That is about as certain as the intelligence community gets on any subject."

Thank you Laurence,

William Jefferson Clinton agrees with you that Iraq had WMDs in 1998:

There is just too much sugar in the kool-aid Saul Alinsky's favorite Radical Son Dave Dubya drinks. The anti capitalist, class envy idiot is jumping up and down foaming at the mouth with his "Bush Lied" lie. Straight out of Alinsky's communist playbook!

Winston Churchill.

President Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act into law on October 31, 1998.

December 16th, 1998, Clinton commenced Operation Desert Fox, a bombing campaign on Iraqi targets.

Saddam had frozen out UN inspectors looking for Iraqi WMD's.

In 2002, both Houses of Congress voted overwhelmingly to pass a resolution authorizing the removal of Saddam Hussein by force.

Remember, Bush was using the same intelligence sources that Clinton used.

Senators Jay Rockefeller and Hillary Rodham Clinton, Representative Nancy Pelosi lectured us about the dangers of Saddam's stockpiles of WMD's.

Not only did we have more allies under Bush I and II, but Congress approved every intervention.

It is too bad for you guys that a major piece of the story is missing. Iraq was not North Korea, we had tons of intelligence, weapon inspectors, and people throughout Iraq that knew what was going on. Remember the 1st Gulf War in 91?
Because of it they stopped making WMD and started destroying their stockpiles, they were afraid of US retribution.
All chemical WMD have a shelf life of 4 years, after that they are inert. By 96 there were no usable WMD in Iraq.

Fast forward to 2002, Chaney's plan to invade Iraq were being thwarted because the NIE stated in total confidence that Iraq had no WMD and their nuclear program was in its infancy.

Chaney made 11 trips to see George Tenet to get the NIE changed to state WMD were all over Iraq. Tenet capitulated, got his medal of freedom and retired.

If Tenet and Collen Powell had any guts, the Iraq war would not have happened.

Barack Obama misled Americans for his own political benefit when he claimed in the 2008 election to oppose same sex marriage for religious reasons, his former political strategist David Axelrod writes in a new book, Believer: My Forty Years in Politics.

“I’m just not very good at bullshitting,” Obama told Axelrod, after an event where he stated his opposition to same-sex marriage, according to the book.

Axelrod writes that he knew Obama was in favor of same-sex marriages during the first presidential campaign, even Obama publicly said he only supported civil unions, not full marriages. Axelrod also admits to counseling Obama to conceal that position for political reasons. “Opposition to gay marriage was particularly strong in the black church, and as he ran for higher office, he grudgingly accepted the counsel of more pragmatic folks like me, and modified his position to support civil unions rather than marriage, which he would term a ‘sacred union,’ ” Axelrod writes

I also remember Norman Swartzkoff saying, after being asked why we didn't invade Bagdad and remove Hussein,(Paraphrased) "Hussein has no loyalty from his people or soldiers. They couldn't wait to surrender to us. He's also a horrible military tactician. Why would we want to remove him and have him replaced with a GOOD military commander who's people would follow and fight for him? Better the devil we know. He's also been pretty good at keeping extremist groups out of the country because he doesn't like to share power"

Of course, Bush II had to prove he could be a "wartime president" and Cheney needed the war so Haliburton could get the no bid contracts to "rebuild".

There is no better way to make BILLIONS of dollars "disappear" than a war. You can also make any draconian unconstitutional law you want because, according to Cheney, "a war is a desperate situation, you can't apply the same rules as you do during peacetime"

Very convenient, DICK.

Several congressmen were able to read the still classified papers and basically stated that the Saudis bankrolled and supported the 9/11 attack.

Since Bush was so close to the Saudis that they gave him the nick name Bandar Bush, it seems he was protecting the people responsible for 9/11. He flew them out of the country so they could not be questioned by the CIA as 15 out of 19 high jackers were Saudis.
He also fought long and hard to not have a 9/11 investigation but had to relent when it looked like he wanted to hide something.

Coincidence?

Also the ONLY three buildings to collapse, one that was barely gamaged (building 7) were owned by the same man. Larry Silverstein

Interestingly, he somehow got about double the amount of insurance money he deserved.

He was also the one who told the NYFD to "pull the building", referring to building 7. "Pull the building" in layman's terms meaning "Bring the building down".

Mozart, a few months after 9/11 I did an INTERNET search for pictures of Penn and the Pentagon as I never saw any in the mass media.

I came across a site that had dozens of pictures of the Pentagon taken every several minutes after the attack.

The first pictures were of a 40 or 50 foot hole in the building, next the top of the building collapsed to make a U shaped hole. on either side of the hole the windows were intact with no damage. The closeups showed the offices exposed by the removal of the walls had no fire damage.

Then trucks came and covered hundreds of square yards of grass in front of the hole with sand about 6" thick.

To sum it up, no way did a plane with a hundred foot wingspan hit the building. There was no fire damage and a plane full of fuel causes a lot of fire damage. The sand had to be used for hiding evidence on the ground.

I never did see a single picture of any debris field in Penn,

I have an entire 6 hour VHS tape of the news coverage of 9-11 starting about 9 AM Mountain time running most of the day( worked nights I had to sleep) and covering several channels.

There was that hole, too small to be the fuselage of a 757, in the first reports, but after it collapsed they NEVER showed the "hole" again.

Also, while they were interviewing people outside the Pentagon, there were men in BUSINESS SUITS picking up debris and carrying it off to an unknown location. Now, I don't know much about plane crash investigations, but I DO know the NTSB does not move ANYTHING, including human remains, until they have been catelogued and mapped. The NTSB could not possibly have gotten there and finished that fats, so WHO WERE THESE MEN AND WHO AUTHORIZED THEM TO REMOVE ITEMS FROM WHAT WAS OBVIUSLY A CRIME SCENE?

There is also an interview later with Cheney, who was at the Penatgon at the time (Why? The VP has no reason to betere)and in the first run of the interview, he says "I was in the Pentagon when the MISSILE hit..". When they reran it, the word "missile" has obviously been dubbed and replaced with in "plane". When they ran that segment a third time, the Cheney interview had been removed.

Funny also how a guy that, according to his flight instructor, "could barely keep a Cessna in level flight" Had the skills to not only fly a &%& but circle AROUND the Pentagon before hitting it ON THE ONE SIDE THAT WAS CLOSED DOWN SO THEY COULD REFURBISH IT SO IT COULD WITHSTAND...wait for it...A MISSILE ATTACK.

I see Pfizer is buying aout another drug company for 16 BILLION. That's right folks, 16 BILLION.

Soon like media ownership, there will be only one drug company.

No competition will mean no reason to keep prices low. And who cares about quality control right?

The GOP will continue to try eliminating all laws protecting the public and soon we will be completely at the mercy of corporate Pharma.

We can only hope America wakes up and votes these people OUT before they have the voting laws COMPLETELY skewed in their favor.

On April 18, 2014, Burisma Holdings announced Hunter Biden's (son of V.P.Biden)appointment to the board of directors in a press release. Burisma is the largest non-governmental gas producer in Ukraine, it was incorporated in 2006 and is based in Limassol, Cyprus - a European tax haven.

Is this the reason behind America's recent actions, to protect the Biden family wealth in Ukraine?

Sore Asshole only supports Republicon wars of fascist cronyism.

But we haven't finished with the consequences of the Republicon war of fascist cronyism.

Note the CORPORATE/Government nature of all this cronyism.

SHHH. Don't rile the precious "job creators".

"America has entered one of its periods of historical madness, but this is the worst I can remember: worse than McCarthyism, worse than the Bay of Pigs and in the long term potentially more disastrous than the Vietnam War". - John le Carré, written on the eve of the Bush invasion of Iraq.

“I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we're really talking about peace.” - George W. Bush

“One of the keys to being seen as a great leader is to be seen as a commander-in-chief. My father had all this political capital built up when he drove the Iraqis out of Kuwait and he wasted it. If I have a chance to invade…, if I had that much capital, I'm not going to waste it. I'm going to get everything passed that I want to get passed and I'm going to have a successful presidency.” – George W. Bush 1999

Sore Loser:

It was a homicide — and the chokehold killed him.

Eric Garner, the Staten Island dad who complained that he couldn’t breathe as he was subdued by cops, died from compression of the neck, the medical examiner said Friday.

The autopsy also found that compressions to the chest and “prone positioning during physical restraint by police” killed Garner. The manner of death, according to the medical examiner, was homicide.

Again, you are a racist. And a homophobe.

One of Jeb's first staff choices already had to resign for racist, sexist comments. He called female college students "sluts" among other things.

But it seems that what ultimately sealed Czahor's fate was a 2008 blog post uncovered by The Huffington Post. In it, Czahor praises Martin Luther King, Jr. for not sagging his pants and says "black parents need to get their sh@# together."

Populist groups cheering "Run Warren Run," today released 2016 election polls from Iowa and New Hampshire showing Sen. Elizabeth Warren ahead of dominant Democrat Hillary Clinton.

The YouGov poll of likely Democratic voters for MoveOn.org and Democracy for America also found that 79 percent want Warren and majorities support her anti-Wall Street positions.

Sore Loser, I doubt you're a vegetarian. There's an old saying: "you are what you eat."

I think you eat bacon for breakfast, ham sandwiches for lunch, and pork roast for dinner.
